Carry it to a safe place where you can ko it or where a trap is ( I just chased it and and used a crossbow) 3. Feed it simple kibble for easy taming time ( I used berry's and it tamed pretty quickly) 4. Watch over it and don't let anything kill it. 5.

The stomp attack is pretty good for wood, especially if you're in a cluster of trees (or at least it was before the TLC). I'd be disappointed of they made the Mammoth no good for wood. The beaver is better, but I'll take the Mammoth if I'm gathering in a rough neighborhood. Mammoth is actually better than beaver.
